Christmas..come and gone already?

I can't believe that another Christmas has come and gone. This month certainly went way to fast for me. I feel like I just put up my tree. And now, I'm taking it down. What a wonderful Christmas we had. It was so fun watching Brylee this year since last year she was pretty much unconscious through the whole Christmas experience. A couple months ago, Brylee started showing her little imagination so I decided this year would be perfect to fix up my old kitchen. This is so special to me because this is the set that my grandmother got me and my cousin made when we were little. I can still remember all the fun we had in her upstairs play room playing with this. She also got a table and chairs made and that's where Dana (my cousin) and I would always sit during the holidays and other functions when it was time to eat. I decided to wait on fixing up the table and chairs until maybe summer time when it's not so dern cold because I'll be sanding and painting that. I thought I was going to paint the kitchen set too but I decided to keep it original. With some Murphy's oil soap, Orange glow, and Old English it became good as new.

And Brylee is enjoying it so much! And maybe Daddy too ;)

Brylee also got clothes, baby dolls, movies, a laptop, puzzles, a stroller for her baby dolls (which was actually the first thing she went to), and lots of goodies in her stocking.

Brylee pushing her ginormously creepy baby that she loves. She was going around the house saying "Weeeeeeee!"

Might I add, Santa was also quite good to Mommy ;) I was totally shocked to open a one cup coffee maker!

Enjoying my very first cup!

He also got me some cute tops, a dress, a bible, and 2 pair of boots. He did good! He even wrapped them all by himself! haha I think he ran out of paper! Notice the bottom one!

Hope everyone had as merry of a Christmas as us Eddlemons did!

Adventures in Couponing

I haven't been on a whole lot of coupon adventures lately. I've been doing well though because I'm still going to the store less because I don't have the coupons for things. December is half way over and I've only spent a little over 200 on groceries. Here is my latest coupon adventure. I was pretty excited about it because laundry detergent can get so expensive. Those were my "big purchases" on this trip. The other 2 items came out dirt cheap!

Total on these items were $7.86 plus tax

Recipe Time!

Yesterday I made my favorite holiday pie and I wanted to share. No, not my pie of course, but the recipe! I say holiday pie but it isn't really "Thankgivingy" or "Christmasy". I guess I call it that because I always end up making it either for Thanksgiving or Christmas. A couple reasons I love this recipe so much. 1. It's stinkin yummy! 2. It's super easy to make with no baking required. My absentminded self tends to overbake things. Hence, the cookies I made this morning for bible study. Oh, and you'll see a picture of my toasty coconut here in a minute! and 3. It makes 2 pies!!! So here it is...the Coconut Caramel Pies....

Ingredients:
1/4 c. margarine
7 oz. flaked coconut
1-8oz. pkg of cream cheese, softened
1-8oz can of sweetened condensed milk
1-16oz. ctn. of cool whip, thawed
1 jar of caramel
2 graham cracker pie shells (2 extra servings)

If you don't get the "2 extra servings" it will overflow, and you'll have a huge mess. Trust me on this one! Also, if you don't like coconut, just leave it out and have caramel pies!

Directions:
1. Melt butter in large skillet and add coconut. Cook until golden brown. STIR FREQUENTLY LISA and set aside.
This picture actually looks okay but a lot of it I had to pick through because it was a dark brown. I left it on the skillet and got to folding some laundry and realized "Oh crap, I have coconut cooking on the stove in there!" This explains my enthusiasm for this pie and the whole "no baking" thing.
2. Combine cheese and milk. Beat till smooth and fold in cool whip.
3. Layer 1/4 of mixture in each pie. Drizzle 1/4 of caramel on each pie and sprinkle 1/4 of coconut on each pie.
4. Repeat layers.
5. Cover and freeze until firm.

I keep mine frozen and then when I have to take one somewhere I'll take it out that day.

Enjoy!

Let's party!

This past weekend was busy busy! 3 parties+3 days in a row=super fun x busy! It all started Thursday with our monthly girls' night. And oh what fun we had as always. We did our usual everyone bring a munchie, and we played Dirty Santa. And boy did it get dirty! It was all in good fun though and we all laughed so much! Something we were all in need of! I feel as though I go home a better wife and Mommy. It's amazing what happens when you get away from the stress of life just for a couple of hours and spend time with just the girls.

Friday night, we had our church class party and that was a blast as well. Again, lots of good munchies, hideous sweaters, and karaoking (sp?). No offense to Brylee, but I really wish I would have gotten a babysitter that night. She got a 4 hour nap that afternoon so I was thinking "Awesome, she'll be so pleasant tonight!" Yeah, well that 4 hour nap had an adverse effect on her and she was so attached to me that night. She wouldn't go to her Daddy, not even her cousin Madison, whom she is crazy about! So that sort of kept me in a tizzy all night but I still had fun.
Brylee being "upleasant Brylee!"
My sexy hubby posing in his sexy sweater! And very sexy Lisa about to walk right in front of the camera! lol

The next day, Santa came to town! Every year, my mother-in-law throws a Christmas party and invites all the family and close friends. When parents come, they always put a wrapped gift in the back of her vehicle. Once Santa gets there, he puts all those gifts in his bag, comes inside, sits down, and calls each child up and they open their present right there in his lap. It's so cute and this year since Brylee was actually conscience compared to last year, I was really anxious to see how she would do. My bet was a total freak out as dramatic as she is. We've been talking a lot about Santa and showing her pictures and things around the house with him on it and she says "Ho Ho." But still, when a red-faced ginormous man in a bright red suit with fur all on it comes in the door, it's just different compared to Santa salt shakers and Santa in Brylee's books that we've been seeing every day. Much to my surprise, she did awesome. She got right up there in his lap and got her books that he brought her. And then she realized, she wasn't within a foot of Mommy, so she wanted down! Yes, she was a little clingy that day too. What can I say, she's a Mommy's girl!
