Brylee's Milestones at 27 months
1. You are still obsessed with Fresh Beat Band, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Disney movies. You have recently discovered Word World and Super Why on PBS though. This makes me very happy because they are slightly more educational than the others!
2. You love learning and are so good about sitting and listening as I read to you. You are always so proud to show what you know. I call you my "little nerd" because you are counting all the time (which by the way, you can count to 13 now) and guess what! You can now identify your numbers 1-10. You also love spouting off your colors and shapes anywhere! You have those down pat. You can also identify letters A, B, K, S, W.
3. When someone comes up to talk to you that you don't know well, you almost always stick out your foot to show off your shoes or painted toenails. Guess it's just some shy thing you do so that you don't have to look at them and say "Hey!"
3. I love your girly-ness! You love getting your fingernails and toenails painted and you love wearing heals. A couple weeks ago, you walked in Kroger with one Snow White heal and one Cinderella heal on. And then you insisted on wearing them to story time one day too. You love wearing your jewelry and checking out Mommy's earrings. I'm pretty sure you'll be wanting to get your ears pierced before we know it! Your girly-ness sure doesn't stop you one bit from playing in the dirt though.
4. You LOVE Nutella.
5. You are always so eager to help. The other day you quickly picked up the hamper to take it back to Mommy and Daddy's room without me having to even ask! You also help Mommy put clothes in the dryer and you love cleaning the lent out! That's the very first thing you do when helping do laundry!
6. You have such a caring heart. If you sense something is wrong with anyone you always say.."Okay?" You can't stand to see people cry and you automatically have to give them a kiss.
7. I love when I intentionally make a sad face and every time you say "Kiss" and grab my face and kiss me. Mommy has found the secret to getting a kiss if you don't want to give one which usually isn't the case. I hardly ever have to beg for a hug or kiss anymore from you! You are so loving!
8. Your answer for "Yes" is "Do-dis." Brylee, do you want ice-cream? "Do-dis!" Not sure where you got that but that is your "yes." and it's so darn cute!
9. You have the sweetest most unique personality. You are so bubbly and crazy and I love how you are always making people laugh! You are so funny!
10. You call me and Daddy by our first names sometimes. That's funny too! You also know the first names of both sets of grandparents. You're a mess!
11. When you bounce, whether it be on the trampoline, the bed, wherever, you always say, "Snow White! Snow White! Snow White!" Don't know why you say that but it's so random and cute!
12. I love it when you swing your arms and strut. You immediately stop when you know someone is looking.
13. You have words that you add unnecessary consonants to. For instance, bib you call a "blib".
14. A couple weeks ago you got off the passy completely thanks to a nice ulcer or bite you got on the tip of your tongue! That was a miserable week for the both of us but all well worth it in the end!
15. You think that a sandwich is called lunch. Never once have I heard you say the word "sandwich." If I fix you a sandwich for dinner, you call it lunch.
16. You are a "chip lover" just like Mommy!
17. You love going to bible class and Thursday school.
18. I realized how big you were the other day when you drank from a cup with no top and didn't spill it!
19. Every time I try to get you to guess something....For instance, "Hey Brylee, guess where we're going tonight?" you say "Secret please" and you want me to whisper it in your ear. It's so cute and it makes me giggle every time!
20. You are finally starting to use a blanket!
21. The past month or so, all you've eaten for breakfast is strawberry oatmeal. I think you would eat it for every meal if I let you. I'll ask you what you want to eat and you say "oatmeal!"

Welcome back sewing..
Wow, I'm a sewing slacker. I realized today I haven't sewn anything since last September! I'm hoping after today, I will make more time for it! It's been about 6 months since I saw this tutorial on making a grocery bag holder. I cut out all the strips and sewed them together and then for some strange reason, I just stopped! And the piece has just been sitting on top of my machine. I've been keeping our sacks in one of those nice reusable bags from Aldi and that big thing hangs on the wall in a closet. Being the grocery bag hoarder that I am, the bag just kept growing and growing, taking up over half of the stinkin closet! Sweet hubby finally told me I needed to get rid of some or do something else with them!! So I decided to finish making my grocery bag holder! I'm not digging the fabrics together so much anymore but 6 months ago, it was the only 3 I had at the time that went best together. Hey, it beats an Aldi bag!

Adventures in Potty Training 2
I am going on my third day of insanity...oops...excuse me, I mean potty training Brylee Kate. I finally went to the store and bought some pull-ups, got candy ready, printed out a sticker chart, and we started 1st thing Monday morning. I took her every 20 minutes all day long. (Until she went to her Mimi's while I went grocery shopping, though Mimi still tried to put her on there a few times.) I got nothing out of her until after dinner that night. She started crying and grabbing at her diaper so I thought she had to poop or something. We rushed to the potty and SCORE!!!!! She peed! Which I was very glad for because I was seriously about to give up the first day!! Unfortunately I'm the type person that wants, needs, HAS to see results immediately! I think you might call that impatience?
Tuesday, again I took her every 20 minutes. My friend Chelsea and I always work out on Tuesdays and I'll tell ya, it could have very well been the longest workout ever having to stop every 20 minutes. Good thing Chelsea's a wonderful gal who understands! When I saw that she was wetting her pull-up and eventually pooped in it too, I changed the time frame to every 15 minutes. Boy did that make for a long, disappointing, exhausting day!! I got absolutely NOTHING from her yesterday! Like I said, it's a good thing she peed Monday evening. Otherwise, I definitely would have given up by now!!
Almost everyone I've talked to about potty training, swears by just putting them in big girl panties and seeing where things go!! This morning, I decided to brave it out and just do it! I changed the time to every 10 minutes though! Not long after changing to panties, Brylee came running up to me pointing towards the floor on the other side of the room saying "Juice, Juice!" I thought maybe she left a cup in her toy basket the day before and she wanted me to get it out or something. Well, no. There was a huge puddle of urine near her kitchen set. So I got her all cleaned up and then the floor and her little kitchen. Eventually, she finally peed in the potty!! Not sure if this was because of the whole "panty thing", or the fact that I moved her potty chair into the living room. Because today she has sat forever in that potty chair just watching TV. I don't know, either way, she did something!! The next thing you know, she had another accident. This time, she was sitting in one of her little chairs. Her chairs open up, and I store some of her toys in there. Well the pee had gotten all inside the chair and all over her dress up clothes! Once again, I cleaned up! And once more, she peed in the potty. So far today, 2 accidents and 2 scores! And probably a BIG F now.....
I've had a little trouble this morning with her pooping in the potty. Several times, I've caught her going to another room (which means she's going to poop) and I immediately put her on the potty. I'm sure I've given her "stage fright" everytime because she ended up not doing anything. I waited and waited until I couldn't anymore. So we got in the shower and then I was going to lay her down for a nap. About 5 minutes into the shower, I saw the "poop face" going on. Fortunately, I thought ahead and set the seat right outside the shower door. I quickly set her, soaking wet, on the potty as she cried. I wasn't quite quick enough because a little turd had fallen in the floor right in front of her. As my soapy body is standing there, trying to figure out what to do with this turd in the floor, Brylee goes to try and pick it up. "Ew chocolate!" I suppose she thought! Well I did what any mother would do if they saw there child about to pick up a piece of poop!! Yeah, I may have been a little louder than normal as I told her no and SHE FREAKED OUT!!!!!!!!! She jumped up from the toilet and ran back into the shower and grabbed hold of me. Which by the way, she had pooped the rest of it out in the potty. Yay! SCOOOORE! But I'm pretty sure she is scarred and will be too freaked out to sit on the potty now. She wouldn't stop crying and shaking (not sure if that was from fear or being cold). But after that, I laid her down for a nap and she is still sleeping. Not sure how she is going to react with the potty now. But with all our hard work the past 2 1/2 days, I'm hoping we can still continue! We shall see!

Happy 2nd Birthday Brylee
Of all days for you to sleep in (which you rarely ever do), you decided to do it on your birthday when we had your 2 year checkup that morning at 9! Mommy had to finally go upstairs and get you up so we could make it on time! You acted like a little sleepy head at first but quickly got up and started doing what you do best. BOUNCE!
Dr. Phillips said you looked absolutely perfect! The only questions I had for him were the bumps you had on the backs of your little arms and thighs. He gave it some fancy name and said it was normal and to just buff it. You were 28lbs (50-75 percentile) which I think the nurse was just in a hurry when she took that because I weighed you just a couple weeks before and you were 25lbs and I know you haven't been eating THAT good! You measured 34inches (50 percentile) and your sweet little head that you can't seem to grow into was 49.7 cm (a whopping 98 percentile!) You just have so much brain in there! I took some pictures with my phone while we waited because you looked so dern cute sitting there making faces in the mirror. I also took a short video (at bottom).
After your appointment, we ran a few errands and then met Aunt Chelsea for lunch at Subway. When we got home, Aunt Crystal and Uncle Lynn (Gavin fell asleep in the car and couldn't come in!) came by and brought you some balloons!
You took a good nap after that and while you napped Mommy made you cupcakes. As soon as you got up, you saw them and would not stop bugging me about eating one! I kept telling you we had to wait on Daddy to get home from work! When he got home, we immediately sang Happy Birthday. Which by the way, you sang that to yourself all day!!!
Look how much you've grown!!
After "dessert before dinner" and dinner, we were off to watch Daddy play softball. One of your favorite things to do.
This year, Mommy and Daddy got you a trampoline since you love bouncing/jumping SO much! We weren't able to give it to you (put it together) on your birthday but 2 days later, on the day of your party, Daddy was able to get it done!
You also got Mommy's old table and chairs from when she was a little girl. Mommy was able to fix them up and paint them for you. Something she's been wanting to do since you were born! And I finally completed it. Since you love chalk so much, I made the tabletop a chalkboard! From the looks of it the past 2 days, I think you're really going to enjoy it!! You've already gotten in trouble once for writing on one of the little chairs with chalk and once for using a crayon on the table!! We'll see how it goes!!
In this blog, I also wanted to include the message Daddy and I left in your photobook.
Happy 2nd Birthday to our sweet Brylee Kate!
We cannot believe how fast your 2nd year has gone. Please, stop growing up so fast! Our sweet girl, we are just simply amazed by you! You keep us laughing and on our toes constantly! You are a funny, sassy, smart, sweet girl whom we love more and more everyday! You have such a precious and caring heart that has started shining through this year. We see it in the way you run up and squeeze our leg and say "aw". The way you take such good care of your baby dolls as you bounce them up and down and say "Sh sh sh." And how willing you are to be such a good little helper to others. This year you have started talking so well! And you don't seem to stop!!!! You have learned to count to 10 and you can identify your shapes, colors, and the number 8. You have also started trying to sing your ABCs. You have the end down pat and you say "XYZ" real fast! You are so smart and we are so proud of you! We cannot wait to see what God has planned for you this next year. We pray that He will bless you with another year of good health and protection! We love you so much beautiful girl and we are so blessed to have you as our daughter! Love, Mommy and Daddy!

Brylee's 2nd Birthday Invitation
I thought since Brylee's birthday invitations have officially been sent out, I'd share them with you. As you can clearly see, we are having a Cinderella ("Lella") themed birthday party! That is the latest OBSESSSION these days and probably will be for the next 4 or so years so why not just get it out of the way now! I also wanted to share this because I had no clue that when you do, Shutterfly gives you a $10 credit. Just one of the many reasons I love them so! I got very lucky on these invitations. Thanks to someone responding to my post on fb about discounts, they gave me their $20 discount code and I spent less than 10 bucks on 25 invitations and some cute matching address labels! Yay for saving money and yay for "Lella" birthday parties!

My little math whiz
Brylee Kate never ceases to amaze me! I think I was most amazed a couple weeks ago when she suddenly just started counting! She's always been interested in numbers. For the past 6 months or so whenever she has seen any number anywhere, she yells out "Eight!" She loves pointing to things and making attempts to count them. Her favorite way to count when getting ready to jump or run, is "Two, six, eight!" instead of "One two three!" So I really thought I had a while before we got this counting thing down pat! I realized a couple weeks ago, that she's just been holding out on us!

22 months
Why am I such a blogging slacker? Brylee turned 22 months May 7 and yeah, I'm just now posting about it. I read my friend, Audra's blog, and I love how she writes her blogs as though she is talking to her children so I am stealing her idea. Thanks Audra!
Brylee Kate,
-You have recently become infatuated with Cinderella ("Lella" is what you call her). I thought I had a ways to go before the "princess phase" but I was dead wrong! It looks as though that will be the theme of your 2nd birthday. You can now recognize Belle and "White" as well!
Here is a picture of you back in April in the back seat watching "Lella" while reading your "Lella" book!
-You are so good with your shapes. Your little shape ball thingy is probably your favorite toy. You bring it to me and say "shapes, shapes!" We take all the shapes out, I name off the shape, you grab it, and put it in the hole. Shapes you can identify: circle, star, cross, oval, square, triangle, pie (pizza pie you call it!), and trapezoid.
-You bow your head the whole time when we say the blessing at the table now.
-You are also getting good with your colors. You know yellow, purple, blue, pink, white, green, and black. If you see a color you know, you yell it out so proudly!
-You love sidewalk chalk. It's usually the first thing you go for when we go outside. When we got home from Gulf Shores this weekend and got you out of the car, you headed straight for the chalk! You have gotten in trouble a few times for writing on Mommy and Daddy's cars with it!
-Your counting "1-2-3" is "2-8-6". It's the cutest thing! When you start to jump or run you say "2-8-6" We'll get our counting in order eventually!
-You pretty much always have a boo boo on one of your knees. Once it starts to heal, you fall again! I'm starting to think you do it on purpose just so you can wear a princess band-aid on it.
-We are starting to see your kind and caring heart. You come up to mommy and daddy lay your head on our lap or wrap your arms around us and say "aaaw!" You pick up your babies and bounce them and say "shh shh shh." You are going to make the best big sister some day!
-Ketchup has become your favorite thing in the world. Unfortunately, you want to dip everything in it. One day Mommy was cutting up an apple and you said "chechup!" I wanted to gag! But luckily, it's become a good way to get you to eat your green beans and carrots!
-I can't believe how big and independent you are getting. It makes Mommy sad that there are some things I no longer have to do for you. One of your favorite things to say is "Kate do it!"
Here's a video of you identifying a few of your shapes and then you got a little distracted with your chalk!
I cannot believe the big girl you are becoming. In just about a month and a half I am going to have a crazy little 2 year old running around! I love you so much my sweet girl!

Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures!
For those of you, if any, who actually read my blogs, you may have noticed in some of the pictures the band aid across Brylee's face. If you didn't, then observation is not your strong suit because it's pretty obvious!
It's been well over 3 weeks now that Brylee scratched herself on the face. I take total blame for it since I'm the one responsible for keeping her nails clipped. It's such a hard thing to do though since they grow so fast. Well after scratching it she continued to mess with it and open it back up right when it started to heal. Soon I realized I was going to have to start using bandaids. It was such a hard spot to put a bandaid (right near her eye) but it had to be done. Soon she learned she could just peel them off. We have gone through so many of those round bandaids it's not even funny. And I find them everywhere!!! Under her bed, in her hair, on her clothes, in OUR bed, in a cup she was playing with, you name it!!! After all this is over, I NEVER want to see another round bandaid again! I even tried regular bandaids. It was pretty funny to see those ginormous things across her face. She peeled those off too. It has truly been a nightmare because over 3 weeks now and this sore is not getting any better and one day she's going to wonder why she has a huge scar on her nose. She does well during the day when I am around but when it comes time for nap/bed time, the picking begins! I tried scotch taping the bandaid on but she peeled the tape off. I tried liquid bandaid and that was also a huge failure! Ben thought we should try putting another bandaid somewhere on her face thinking she just wanted something to pick at and she'd forget about her actual sore. Also a failure! The next morning she woke up with our normal bandaid gone and the other random one we put on her cheek was still there! Some people have said to use super glue but I'm scared the way that she picks at those bandaids, she would have even more scratches from trying to pick at that glue. So I resorted to my desperate and hopefully, final remedy. I've been talking about it for like a week now but haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I psyched myself up for it last night though because I am so tired of dealing with this! Hopefully, with a little duct tape and a pair of socks her face will be good as new in a couple days! Yes that's right, I duct taped socks on my child's hands. I thought for sure I'd wake up this morning with the socks somehow gone and the tape still around her wrists but nope, all still there! I actually thought it would make her mad but she just stared at them! She wanted some milk before bedtime and I had to end up holding it for her like she was a baby again because her cup kept slipping out of her hands. Those grippie things on socks, in fact, do not work when it comes to trying to hold a sippy cup! FYI:This is only for sleep time. I don't make her go around like this all day long!!!

Cleaning up and gettin dirty!
I'm baaaaaack! It's been a while :-)
Wow was that storm crazy last night. Here's what happened in our neck of the woods!
Had to get my cutie patootie in there!
Weird thing about this is a couple weeks before this a limb fell in the very same place and trampled my forsythia. I told Ben it just wasn't meant to have any sort of bush or plant there because last week I planted something there to take its place and now it's crushed too!
This fell on the other side of the driveway.
Oh the joys of living near lots of trees! Brylee and I got out this morning and picked up all the small branches out of the yard and swept the driveway. Brylee did a super job of helping me out!!
After cleaning up the storm stuff, I decided to pick my weeds for the 77th time this season. FYI: Preen doesn't work. Seems like it made my weeds worse! Though it could be the fact that we need mulch like crazy. Anyhow, Brylee of course wanted to help out with that too. She got in that flower bed and pulled dirt and then realized I was pulling the green stuff so started pulling up my monkey grass!! She got super filthy and looks like a complete redneck in these pics and I love it!!! At what point I heard the crazy loon gagging and I turned around and saw that she was eating the dirt!! Yuck!

Yuck!
